Terms and conditions

The ground rules for using this site and booking a roofer through us, answered one question at a time.

Are the prices on this site what I'll pay?

No. The figures in our guides are rough planning ranges for roofs around Tampa, there to help you budget. What you pay for a repair is the price the roofer gives you before starting. For a replacement it's the written, itemized estimate, which stays good for the period printed on it, usually 30 days. An estimate only becomes a contract once you approve it.

Who actually works on my roof?

Independent roofing contractors who hold the Florida roofing license issued through the Construction Industry Licensing Board at the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, and who carry liability insurance. Their license number appears on their proposal and contract. Hillsborough Roof Co. books and coordinates the work; it isn't the contractor.

Who takes care of permits?

We work out which office covers your address. In the city it's City of Tampa Construction Services, and in unincorporated areas it's Hillsborough County Development Services. The contractor files the permit for any reroof, the fee appears as its own line, and the job ends with the inspection the permit calls for. The Florida Building Code and the office reviewing your job always have the final say.

What about the materials?

Roofing products we install carry a Florida Product Approval, and they're installed the way that approval sets out. If your neighborhood association has rules on roof color or material, we'll help you get its sign-off before anything is ordered.

How and when do I pay?

Repairs are paid when the work is done, by card, check or bank transfer. Larger jobs may need a deposit when materials are ordered, and if so it's written on the estimate; the rest is due on completion. We never ask you to sign over your insurance benefits.

Can I do some of this myself using your guides?

Please don't climb on a roof based on anything here. Roofs are slippery, steep and a long way up, and we can't take responsibility for injuries or damage from do-it-yourself attempts.

Is the website advice for my house?

It's general information about roofing around Tampa, not an inspection, an engineering opinion, legal advice or a permit decision for your property. Codes, fees and program rules change; the current documents from the city, the county and the state are the ones that count.

Who do I ask about these terms?
